What is a residence card and how to get it
A residence card (Karta pobytu) is a document that confirms the identity and official status (temporary or permanent) of its holder in Poland.
The card looks like the internal passport of an EU resident, in other words, it is a plastic card with a photo and biometric data of the holder (fingerprint data, height, eye color, parents' names). In addition, the card includes the address of residence in Poland and the PESEL or NIP number (similar to our tax identification number).
The Karta pobytu also functions as a visa. To cross the border, you only need to present a valid passport and the residence card itself.
