Discounts for students in Poland

Enrolling in a Polish university and obtaining student status has many advantages. In addition to quality education, life experience, new friends and prospects, students receive many discounts.
A mandatory condition for both legislative and commercial discounts is the presentation of a valid student ID card (Polish: legitymAcja [legitimacy]) with an ELS hologram sticker on the back.

A student ID card allows you to use public transport at discounted prices. This is a 50% discount on all tickets (both single and monthly). On trains (including Intercity), a 51% discount on student tickets.
Students also receive discounts in:
• theaters;
• museums;
• cinemas;
• clubs;
• gyms;
• water parks;
• clothing stores;
• restaurants;
• online services;
• insurance companies,
and others.

Ryanair students with an ESN card can purchase flights with a 15% discount and take 15 kg of checked baggage for free. Discounted tickets are available for 8 one-way or 4 outbound flights at least 28 days before arrival. To benefit from the discount, you must register your ESNcard on Ryanair.com.

Spotify is also offering students a 50% discount - PLN 9.99 instead of PLN 19.99 for a monthly subscription to the premium package. To activate the promotion, you must enter your personal and university details in the SheerID verification system.
Banks also offer discounts on their services to students. Student accounts (Polish: konto studenckie [konto studEnckie]) are often free of charge, while a regular bank account is charged a monthly fee.

On the basis of a university student ID card, you can also get an ISIC or EURO26 card. These are international cards that provide insurance and discounts at retail and service outlets (hostels, shops, restaurants, sports facilities) all over the world and will allow you to pay less for an entrance ticket to a museum or transport not only in Poland. Prices upon presentation of an ISIC or EURO26 card are usually 30-40% lower.
To take advantage of the above discounts, you must have a valid student ID. Its validity is extended each semester in a department designated by the university. No other document, even one that proves that you are a student, entitles you to a discount.
Ask about the discount!
Even if you are in a place where you are not sure whether, for example, cheaper tickets are offered for students, ask about it. It often happens that private companies, although they do not inform about student discounts, offer them upon presentation of a student ID.
